L-S Choral Music

Welcome to the choral program!  We offer choral ensembles, musical theater productions and a variety of student-directed vocal groups.

Concert Choir is open to all students; there is no audition. You don’t have to have a “good voice” or know how to read music–these are things you will learn as a chorus member.  Any voice type is welcome (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) and the group does a wide-variety of music including classical, pop, and music from a variety of cultures around the world.  If you enjoy singing and want a wide variety of music, pick Concert Choir!

*2 Choir options to choose between: Concert Choir during the regular school day as an Elective class OR Concert Choir during the "Conservatory Block" three mornings a week before school (Tues/Wed/Fri from 7:33 - 8:25 am).  The two sections perform combined at Concerts.
How do I choose???
Do you enjoy singing and want to further your group singing skills?  Sign up for Concert Choir as your Elective during the regular school day!  (a great community, all singers welcome, great stress relief);
Do you enjoy singing but also want to explore another Elective/Arts area?  Sign up for Concert Choir Conservatory before school, and a different Elective during the school day! (like in Visual Art, Theatre, Computer Science...)
Worried about fitting in the Computer Science Requirement?  Contact Mr. Bunting to learn about several ways to do it while continuing with Music.

*Concert Choir and Concert Choir Conservatory now qualify as Global Scholars classes.

*If you sign up for either Concert Choir as an Elective during school, OR Concert Choir Conservatory during the before school block, you are eligible to go on the L-S Music Tour to NYC in April 2025!!!

The Choral community at L-S is a warm and welcoming place.  Joining L-S Choir is a great way to meet new people and make lasting friendships; you will also develop a strong singing voice and build your musical skills. The two choirs perform some songs separately and some songs combined.  If you like to sing and enjoy making music with others, Chorus is for you!  If you sign up for Treble Choir or Concert Choir, you will be eligible for the June L-S Music trip to 6 Flags.

We have three major concerts over the course of the school year: the Pops Concert in December, the All Towns Concert in March (with Lincoln, Curtis and L-S choral groups!) and the Community Sing Spring Choral Concert in May.  This is very manageable with sports, and many L-S students do both Music and sports!  We also have several fun in-school opportunities for the Choirs to perform for other students.

Over the course of the year you will make great friends, sing inspiring music, and become a better musician. Along the way you will learn about the pride of accomplishment, leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and school spirit. Contact the director if you have any questions about the choral program at LSRHS, or consult the Choral Handbook.
