The New School Year

The New School Year
Posted on 08/28/2020
Dear L-S Students and your parents and guardians:

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! And a most unusual year it will be! You will be getting a flurry of emails from L-S in the coming days as the pieces of our re-opening plan fall into place.

Please refer to the calendar on our website at www.lsrhs.net/school_calendar for dates and times about school events.

I would like to particularly call your attention to the following important dates:

Sept 8 Orientation for new students in grades 10-12

Sept 9 First Adventure Orientation for 9th graders

Sept 15 First day of classes for all students

Sept 15-18 will follow a Monday holiday week schedule

The schedule of classes for the hybrid plan can be found at this link.

Please note that students are expected to be in class or class activities, whether in-person or remotely, from 8:25-3:15 on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri, and from 10:15-2:20 on Wednesdays. There will occasionally be mandatory student activities during ACA block, from 2:20-3:15 on Wednesdays.

L-S staff are working hard in preparation for school opening. In the next two weeks you should expect to receive the following information:
- New students and 9th graders only: Google account credentials and Aspen (student information database) login credentials (emailed to parents/guardians)
- House and counselor assignments for new students and 9th graders (Aspen)
- Student schedules (Aspen)
- Cohort assignments (Aspen)

You will be notified via email when new information is available in Aspen.

You should have already received an email from Kirsteen Patterson, Director of Finance and Operations, regarding bus transportation -- confirming that you are or are not registered for school bus transportation. Bus routes will be posted on our website at www.lsrhs.net/students/bus_routes when they are finalized.

If you have requested to borrow a Chromebook, you should receive an email today or tomorrow about when we will schedule you to pick up your Chromebook loaner.

I would also like to remind you about the summer reading information, which can be found on the English Department web page at: www.lsrhs.net/academics/departments/english.

Best wishes for a great start to the year,

Virginia Blake
Coordinator of Curriculum, Scheduling and Assessment
