Math Department
The Mathematics Department offers a variety of courses including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry/Precalculus, Calculus (both full-year and semester courses) and Statistics (both full-year and semester courses). All courses are offered in varying levels of difficulty, and are taught at a college preparatory level.
The Lincoln-Sudbury Math Department has adopted new level designation names, beginning in Fall 2017.
The following changes were adopted to:
- Increase clarity about rigor and student responsibility in our courses.
- Improve alignment with other L-S departments and with the sending middle schools.
New Level Designations:
- "Accelerated Advanced" has replaced "Intensive".
- "Advanced" has replaced "Level 1".
- "Standard" has replaced "Level 2"
- "Foundations" has replaced "Level 3" and "Topics".
Most incoming ninth graders will be enrolled in one of the following courses:
- Geometry Accelerated Advanced
- Geometry Advanced
- Geometry Standard
- Algebra I Standard
- Algebra I Linear Foundations
